Samsung Nexus Prime to have 5 mega pixel camera?

Rumours are the nexus will have a 5 megapixel camera, whereas its predecessor the Galaxy S2 has 8. and the new iPhone 4S has 8.

Do mega pixels REALLY matter? I mean I can't see why Samsung would boost every other aspect to make it the best phone on the market yet put the megapixels down, clearly they can't matter too much?

I'm on the fence between getting my first smartphone with Apple or Samsung.Samsung Nexus Prime to have 5 mega pixel camera?
Nexus Prime is renamed as Galaxy Nexus.

The latest specifics of it says its camera with 5 megapixel while iPhone with 8 megapixel.

Though iPhone camera is a little better than Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Nexus has many advantages in other sides.

There were actually two sources that leaked two different sets of specs. One said 1.2Ghz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor and 5 megapixel camera, the other said 1.5GHz dual-core Exynos processor and 8 megapixel camera. It's hard to believe which is real. They may both be piecing together previous leaks and speculating for all I know.

Also, megapixel count doesn't really matter as long as it's not like 1MP. There are many 5 megapixel cameras that look much better than 8 megapixel shooters. It's all about the image sensor, especially in smartphone cameras. That's why the iPhone has always had decent quality pictures even with lower megapixel count. Now they have high MP and a great sensor. Samsung is probably the best Android manufacturer for cameras though, so it should be solid. Probably not as good as iPhone 4S, but good enough.

MP dont me jack ****......its sensor size, lens quality(letting enough light thru and other things), and ISO that matters.

a 6MP DSLR will take better pictures then a 18MP point and shoot
